Well, the weather didn't let up but that hasn't stopped our Bromley bakers from heating up the oven, aiming ALL OF THE FANS at the kitchen, and cracking on with creating nine gorgeous birthday cakes for families in need. It's been a month of firsts, with bakers Elisabeth, Rhiannon Louise and Emma all making their first cakes for us, alongside Laura, Hannah, Lucy and Angela. Thank you to everyone who helped to make mermaids, cars, butterflies, stars, Iggle Piggle, Haribo, Harry Potter, a Unicorn and a Tractor.
Our friends at Bromley Foodbank run summer clubs for the families they help, and we were delighted to provide plain cupcakes and lots of buttercream so the children could try their hands at cake decorating. The food bank tell us that in a few years time we may well have some young and keen volunteers as it was a big success! We'll also be providing tray bakes to accompany the rest of their summer clubs throughout August.
The summer cupcake bonanza has started, with 40 beautifully sprinkled cakes off to Castlecombe Children's Centre this morning thanks to Angela. This is the first of 11 deliveries throughout the holidays, providing sugary fuel for their sports days! But more of that in August...
Finally, a group a bakers gathered in Rhiannon's kitchen for a macaron workshop and the results looked extremely tasty! It's lovely when our bakers are willing to share their knowledge with each other, and any excuse for a cake and a catch up is fine by us.
See you in August!
