June - the heatwave cometh

Birthday cakes to date: 272

Despite the heat - and a dash of football fever - our bakers have been hard at work this month delivering cakes all over the borough!

Some brilliant birthday cakes from volunteer bakers Emily, Chantelle, Lisa, Daisy, Alicia, Andrea and Lizzie gave us emojis, unicorns, Mr Tumble, Minecraft, Spurs, multiple Peppa Pigs and a festival of pinkness.

It's also been a popular month for fetes and garden parties. Our mini bakes popped up at The Maypole Project's stall at Farnborough Village's Music Festival, Cystic Fibrosis Trust's afternoon tea - arranged by a local superhero Mum - and Demelza Hospice's 20th anniversary.

Finally, we were asked to make a birthday cake for The Maypole Project's 15th anniversary. A group collaboration by nine of our bakers created a three tier cake surrounded by cupcakes, all in Maypole's signature purple and pink, and which was cut by the Mayor of Bromley at their party. And co-ordinator Lucy who attended the event can vouch for the fact there wasn't a crumb left!

So happy anniversary to Demelza and Maypole, two brilliant local charities making a huge difference to children's lives. Happy birthday to all of the Bromley children who received our cakes. And happy summer to everyone else! See you in July for more birthday cakes and the start of the annual summer cupcake bonanza...
